PUBLIC BANKING: Banking That Serves People
Right now, basic financial services are expensive, inaccessible, or predatory for millions of Americans.
We already have a national network capable of fixing that: the postal system.
My approach:
Offer basic banking through public institutions
Checking, savings, and small-dollar loans available through local post offices
Eliminate predatory alternatives
Reduce reliance on payday lenders and high-fee services
Keep money in local communities
Public banking reinvests locally instead of extracting profit
Stabilize financial access
Ensure rural and underserved communities aren’t left behind
Bottom line: Access to banking shouldn’t depend on your zip code or your credit score.
